基督教聖經之智慧書導讀 : Home of Parent (HOP) Public Health Nurses (PHNs) work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, specifically children social workers (CSWs), in CWS to help address medical concerns. Many children investigated by child welfare services (CWS) remain in the home of parent (HOP) supporting the need to explore the experiences of HOP PHNs in addressing the healthcare needs of children and their families in CWS. This study was conducted through the conceptual framework lens of Bronfenbrenner's social ecological theory (BEST) and the public health intervention wheel (PHIW). BEST helped to view health issues from a social ecological perspective accounting for both causes and illnesses that a child and family may experience and the PHIW allowed for opportunities for developing a plan of care that promotes holistic health. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to capture the variety of experiences that HOP PHNs face in addressing the healthcare needs of children in CWS. The research questions were explored using two data sources-open-ended semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The study was conducted in a large Southern California Child Welfare Public Health Nursing Program and the sample included 13 HOP PHNs. Thematic analysis was used, and six themes were identified: screening, referral, and follow-up on, case management, health teaching, and the consultation process This study allowed HOP PHNs to share their experiences. The results presented an overview of how HOP PHNs work with children and their families during the emergency phase of a referral as a helpful intervention.
